The York RLFC Excel Boys Player Development Programme was initially launched in early 2017 and aims to help every player develop further to assist in reaching their potential. It forms part of the York RLFC player pathways and is rated as outstanding by the RFL.

The Excel programme offers young rugby league players and those new to the sport, an opportunity to work in a professional club environment. Players will get the chance to work with different coaches and different players, learning new skills at a quality training facility provided by York St John University.

The programme is overseen by York RLFC Head of Rugby Development Andrew Henderson with sessions led by York Knights Assistant Coach Will Leatt and supported by an experienced youth development coaching team.

Local rugby league players from our York and North Yorkshire community clubs are encouraged to attend, alongside players from clubs outside the area as well. Players who play rugby union, play only for their school team or have no experience at all and just want to give rugby league a go, are all very welcome here on the Excel programme.

The programme is FREE but booking is essential!

All sessions take place on a Monday evening from 7pm-8pm at York St.John University Sports Park, Haxby Road, YO31 8TA.
