York Knights go looking for back to back wins in the Betfred Championship when they travel to the Northern Competitions Stadium to face Barrow Raiders on Sunday (3pm)!

The Knights got their first points last week, with a 23-10 win at Batley Bulldogs, putting them amongst five teams in the table with one victory from their opening matches.

Paul Crarey’s Barrow have enjoyed a good start to their year, and sit third in the Championship, with three wins from four matches.

Last weekend, they surprised one of the favourites, Bradford Bulls, with a 18-8 victory at Odsal Stadium, following on from a 20-6 win at Oldham the week before. It’s been a big turn around for the Raiders, who have been in relegation battles in the last two seasons.

Last season’s match in Cumbria saw the Knights fall to a narrow 15-14 defeat, with tries from Will Jubb, Oli Field and Charlie Severs, while Luke Cresswell, Max Clark and Ryan Shaw replied for Barrow. A drop goal in the 78th minute from Brad Walker sealed the win for the home side, after York had led 14-8 with five minutes remaining.

That defeat was York’s first at Craven Park since 2017.

In the Barrow squad this year is former York loanee, Aaron Smith, who spent three games at the Knights from St.Helens in 2018. Winger, Tee Ritson is also back at the club after rejoining on loan from St.Helens.

Winger, Andrew Bulman also catches the eye, with eight tries in six games so far this season.

York will still be without Will Dagger, and Ata Hingano with hip and hand injuries respectively.
