York Valkyrie begin their 2023 Betfred Womenâs Challenge Cup campaign with a trip to Barrow Raiders on Sunday (2pm).
York head to the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium on the back of two record Betfred Super League wins over title rivals Leeds Rhinos and St Helens, defeating the former 34-12 and the latter 26-6.
The Valkyrieâs attentions now turn to the Betfred Womenâs Challenge Cup though, starting their three matches Group Four against Betfred Womenâs Super League Group Two side Barrow.
This weekendâs hosts finished second in Group Two last year, winning nine of their 12 regular season matches, before suffering a narrow 12-10 defeat to Featherstone Rovers in the competitionâs Play-Off Semi-Finals.
The Raiders were unable to avenge that loss to Featherstone in last weekendâs 2023 Betfred Womenâs Super League Group Two opening round though, going down 30-8 at the Millennium Stadium.
Lindsay Anfieldâs side will be seeking to replicate last seasonâs strong form in the Betfred Womenâs Challenge Cup Group Stage.
In Group C last year, York won all three matches, scoring 200 points and conceding just four in wins over Dewsbury Moor (0-78), Wigan Warriors (46-0) and Bradford Bulls (4-76).
The visit to Barrow is the first of three Betfred Womenâs Challenge Cup Group Four matches for York, with a home clash against Hull KR following on Sunday 7th May (12pm) at the LNER Community Stadium before a trip to Leigh Leopards on Sunday May 21st (2pm) at Leigh Miners Rangers.
Tickets are available for York Valkyrie's Betfred Women's Challenge Cup tie against Barrow Raiders on Sunday (2pm) for just ÂŁ5 for Adults and Concessions and FREE for Under-16s. All tickets are pay-on-the-gate only.
