Foundation Easter School Holiday programme confirmed

York RLFC Foundation is delighted to confirm our latest School Holiday programme, with more sessions taking place across York this Easter holiday.

York RLFC Foundation School Holiday programme plays a crucial role in our local community by offering children enjoyable, active, and free sessions, inspiring the next generation of York Knights and York Valkyrie stars.

In 2024, the York RLFC Foundation organised more than 100 sessions across dozens of venues with more than 2500 children attending. We are looking to repeat this in 2025!

Our events are typically catered for children aged 5 to 13 and offer open-access activity sessions, with no pre-booking required. Our Easter Holidays programme is made up of sessions thanks to funding awarded by the City of York Council Holiday Activities with Food (HAF) programme and Local Council Ward funding. All our sessions are open access, free to attend sessions! Some sessions will also include a snack and a drink for those attending.

By using a multi-sport approach within our sessions, we broaden our appeal to the widest audience possible. The benefits of these sessions are engaging young people and helping them to exercise with positive activities in their neighbourhoods.

The Holiday Activities with Food (HAF) Programme enables families to book a wide range of providers through the Holidays Activities website, including those offered by York RLFC Foundation, using the code received from their child’s school.

Any child who is eligible for (means-tested) free school meals, can book on one of our HAF session(s) allowing them to request a meal to be brought to the session. Families and children who are not eligible for free school meals do not need to book on this system. However, priority for places will be given to those who are eligible in line with the funding we have received.

Adam Prentis, York RLFC Foundation Delivery Manager said: "We are grateful for the support from the partners and families who attended our sessions and helped make this year's programme successful.

"For our team of coaches to deliver this programme, it's something we can take pride in. Our Department of Education funded sessions have the added benefit of not only providing enriching and fun activities, but also providing healthy food to children across the city. The programme is then boosted by contributions from local Ward Committee funding allowing us to offer more sessions across the city.”

"We remain committed to providing holiday activity throughout the year and look forward to continuing this trend in the future."

Our extended thanks to our partner Simon Baynes Wholesale for supplying the fruit for our holiday sessions.
