A disappointing performance at Halifax Panthers denied York Knights a chance to put more pressure on the top six in the Betfred Championship.
A dominant opening 15 minutes saw York take a 10 point lead and suggest theyâd manage back to back wins.
However two tries in three minutes saw Halifax hit back and the momentum swung the way of the home side.
The result leaves York in eight place and two points off the play off places.
It was a strong start for York, who took the lead after just three minutes when Ata Hingano slotted over a penalty after a high tackle.
It wasnât long before that lead was extended as Connor Bailey took a pass from Sam Cook to capitalise on plenty of pressure on the Panthers line. Hingano converted.
The Knights dominance in the opening fifteen minutes didnât last though and Halifax started to find their feet.
James Woodburn-Hall took advantage of some poor tackling to go in for his sideâs first try of the afternoon. Louis Jouffret added the first of his four conversions.
This spurred the home side on and just three minutes later they went in again. Ben Crooks scored to give Halifax the lead for the first time.
That lead was relatively short-lived as Brad Ward regained the Knights the advantage on the scoreboard.Â
He out jumped James Saltonstall to take a Hingano kick to touch down in the corner. Hingano added the conversion from the touch line.
However, âFax found form again and scored twice more before the break. Efforts from Charlie Graham and Jouffret built an eight point lead at half-time.Â
The Knights needed a strong start to the second half but with errors and some ill-discipline in their game it was Halifax who scored next.
Charlie Graham was on the end of a flowing move to score in the corner and Jouffretâs conversion put them 14 points ahead.Â
York were still struggling to get any foothold in the game but when Jacob Gannon scored off a Sam Cook pass, there was a flicker of hope of a comeback.
They pushed at the Halifax line again but when Jouffret intercepted in his own 10 metre area to set up good field position, Keyes found his way over to seal a home win.
Jouffret got the final try of the game, scooting over from close range to complete his brace.
