Jones-Bishop returns to York Knights!

Winger or full-back, Ben Jones-Bishop has returned to York Knights, thanks to support from Squad Builder!

The 36-year old Jamaican international is back at the club for a second spell, agreeing a deal until the end of the season.

He’s spent the last four seasons at Sheffield Eagles, where he scored 60 tries in 92 appearances. He enacted a clause in his contract which has allowed him to leave the South Yorkshire club.

His first spell at the LNER Community Stadium was in 2021, when he made 19 appearances and scored 9 tries. One of those came at Wembley, in the 1895 Cup Final defeat by Featherstone Rovers.

Jones-Bishop (heritage number #1881) brings plenty of experience to the Knights’ back line, having featured in Challenge Cup Finals and Grand Finals for Leeds Rhinos. He was also part of the Rhinos’ World Club Challenge winning side in 2012, scoring in the 20-12 win over Manly Sea Eagles.

His career has also seen him play for Salford Red Devils and Wakefield Trinity in Super League, and he was part of the Jamaica squad for the 2021 World Cup.

Head coach, Mark Applegarth said: "I'm delighted to have Bish over the line.

"Hes a player I've worked with before and I'm looking forward to working with him again.

"He'll give us a bit of depth and quality in that back line and take a bit of pressure of those lads that have been covering those wing spots for us.

"We've got a proven winner. He'll add a lot of experience and value to our back five."

Jones-Bishop will be available for Sunday’s Betfred Championship match against Halifax Panthers.
