York City Knights can confirm that the club have made the decision to not take part in the RFL’s proposed Autumn invitational competition.
After receiving full details of the competition and learning the criteria in which the club would need to meet, a decision has been made that it would be in the club’s best interests to not enter.
The decision was taken with the input of both performance and finance areas of the club with the importance of a full pre-season program and welfare of the players alongside our commitment to be better on and off the field.
We would like to place on record our thanks and appreciation for the efforts of the RFL for their support and guidance throughout this process and we wish the participants the very best of luck.
Our focus has now switched to the 2021 Betfred Championship - our maiden season in the brand new LNER Community Stadium - which promises to be a hugely exciting year for all our fans and sponsors alike, and we would like to thank a great number of our 2020 members who have shown an enormous amount of generosity by deciding to become 2020 Knights Patrons - the early response has been absolutely phenomenal and your actions have allowed us to plan our budget for 2021 with added confidence.
Exciting announcements regarding 2021 player retention and recruitment will begin later this week, so keep an eye out on our website or social media channels for that.
