After the roaring success of last year’s Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup, York RLFC Foundation are delighted to confirm the next series of taster sessions ahead of the 2023 Wheelchair Rugby league season. Following these sessions, we will announce a weekly training session in preparations for playing home and away competitive fixtures.
Wheelchair Rugby League is the most inclusive and accessible variant of Rugby League for all abilities. It is the only Rugby League offer that is wholly inclusive and teams feature wheelchair athletes and non-disabled players.
Clubs across the UK have been set up to improve the physical well-being of players to enjoy this sport, offering an opportunity for individuals who are either unable or no desire to participate in the running game.
Widely proclaimed, Wheelchair Rugby League is the most inclusive and accessible variant of Rugby League for all abilities. It is the only Rugby League offer that is wholly inclusive and teams feature wheelchair athletes and non-disabled players. The sport is quite unique in that it offers both disabled and non-disabled players the opportunity to compete both with and against each other.
So, no matter what gender or age players are, everyone compete on a level playing field which is created by the use of wheelchairs and some slight adaptations of the rules of Rugby League.
Dates of our next three sessions are as follows Monday 20th, 27th March+ 3rd April - 6:15 -7:45pm to, held at the University of York’s Sports Centre, YO10 5NA, with sessions priced at £4 pp.
