The York RLFC Foundation were delighted to last week launch our 'On The Same Team' programme at Poppleton Road Primary School.
The programme was launched by York Valkyrie star Jess Sharp and Foundation Delivery Manager Adam Prentis aimed at tackling bullying by providing anti-bullying education within schools through engaging lessons and activities.
The 'On The Same Team' programme was set up by social care charity Community Integrated Care in partnership with the Rugby Football League (RFL), offering simple and inspiring education that helps young people to understand the impact of their words and behaviours on other people.
Led by Jess Sharp and Adam Prentis, the assembly highlighted the inclusivity of rugby league including the examples of England Women's Captain Jodie Cunningham and Learning Disability Super League ace Oliver Thomason who have bust stereotypes to become stars in their respective codes of the sport.
The York RLFC pair also discussed the steps that the Club have taken to make sport and wellbeing more inclusive through the rebranding and progression of York Valkyrie and the development of the Foundation's numerous teams, including the Learning Disability Rugby League (LDRL) team and Wheelchair team.

'On The Same Team' helps to tackle prejudice before it is formed, developing positive attitudes and behaviours in students, shapes a positive culture in schools and enables schools, students and clubs to inspire their communities.
