York Valkyrie 122-0 Hull KR - Match Report

York Valkyrie secured a Club record 122-0 victory over Hull KR as they continued their 100% start to the 2023 season in the Betfred Women's Challenge Cup.

The Valkyrie crossed for an astonishing 22 tries at the LNER Community Stadium, with Sinead Peach and Savannah Andrade both managing four-try hauls and Tamzin Renouf scoring a hat-trick.

The thrashing secured Lindsay Anfield's side progression into the Quarter-Finals of the Betfred Women's Challenge Cup.

York made a rapid start, scoring five tries in the opening 13 minutes. Aimee Staveley barged over in the set after KR failed to field the kick-off, Renouf grabbed her first down the right flank before Emma Kershaw went in on the overlap after Lacey Owen's surge upfield.

Peach then raced away from halfway following Marshall's break and a sublime delayed pass by Tara Jane Stanley - who finished with eight conversions - put Andrade in the clear.

The Valkyrie remained relentless in their pursuit of points. Peach wrestled over from Jas Bell's offload, Renouf broke clear inside her own half from the restart and Owen got in on the act with a long-range try.

Georgie Hetherington took York to 50 points when finishing a right-side shift before Peach grabbed her hat-trick when finishing another Bell pass.

Two more tries followed before half-time. Bettie Lambert dived in from Stanley's cut-out ball and Owen hit a strong line from Gale's pass, leaving the scores at 66-0 at the interval. Liv Whitehead, who closed with five goals, converted the latter.

Anfield's troops never took their foot off the gas in the second half. Bell drove over two minutes after the restart, Renouf bagged her hat-trick from Peach's dummy-half pass and Kershaw finished her brace with a clever step at the try-line.

Andrade continued the scoring with a score from just over halfway before Liv Wood charged over from 30m out.

Peach claimed her fourth via a dummy-half scoot before the 100-point mark was surpassed when Whitehead raced clear from Marshall's inside pass.

Marshall, who closed with four conversions, then rampaged under the sticks, before Andrade completed her quadruple, first barging in to the right of the posts and then crossing from a right-side shift.
