Eboni Partington bagged a hat-trick as York Valkyrie eased to a 44-4 victory over Warrington Wolves at the LNER Community Stadium.

After Charlie Magraw levelled the scores following Lacey Owen’s early opener, Partington hit a treble inside the space of 15 minutes to put York in firm control.

Bettie Lambert and Alex Stimpson crossed the whitewash either side of half-time before Liv Wood got her name on the scoresheet.

A late double from Manuqalo Komaitai rounded off a convincing victory for the home side.

The Valkyrie made a dream start, scoring inside the opening four minutes when Owen touched down a grubber kick from prop Jas Bell.

Warrington responded when Magraw scythed through to the left of the sticks after the Wolves had won field position by chasing down a Bell kick on the last, with Magraw converting her own try.

A hat-trick from Partington in the space of just a quarter of an hour saw York move into a 14-point lead however.

On the back of a couple of strong carries by Owen and Savannah Andrade, the Valkyrie shifted the ball to the left for Partington to exploit an overlap.

The England star then produced a signature long-range finish, breaking the Warrington line on halfway before racing away from the chasing defence.

After two previous misses by Bell, Izzy Brennan landed the conversion, her first of three goals from six attempts.

Partington wrapped up her hat-trick on the half-hour mark when Remi Wilton spotted an overlap down the left edge, allowing Partington to touch down in the corner.

The Valkyrie scored a fifth try before half-time when Sade Rihari’s wide cut-out pass to Lacey Owen allowed the stand-in centre to put Lambert over down the right flank.

The hosts picked up from where they left off early in the second half when interchange Stimpson barged over to the left of the sticks.

Warrington defended solidly through the second half but eventually York claimed a seventh score when Owen’s brilliant charge forward laid the platform for Wood to drive over from 30m out. Substitute Ellie Hendry added the conversion.

In the final 10 minutes, Komaitai marked her home debut with a couple of quick-fire tries. The centre hit a brilliant short ball from Wilton to charge over for her first before charging onto a drop-off pass from the Australian hooker.
