York Valkyrie are delighted to announce the signing of forward Jess Sharp from Hull KR.
Sharp joins York while also penning a dual registration agreement with Hull KR for 2023, ensuring regular game time with the Robins alongside training with the Valkyrie.
The prop forward, proudly sponsored by JCT 600, arrives at York after an impressive season with Hull KR in 2022.
The 17-year-old has also represented the England Community Lions, featuring in their 22-18 win over England DiSE (Diploma in Sporting Excellence) last month. She will wear the squad number 27 for the Valkyrie.
On bringing Sharp to the Club, Director of Rugby Lindsay Anfield said: “Jess was a stand-out player for Hull KR last season and earned a shirt for the Community Lions earlier this year.
“She is a strong running front-rower, but probably lacks the athleticism and robustness to compete in the Betfred Women’s Super League Group One straight away.
“Her dual registration status means she can continue to train with us and make physical gains, while still enjoying her rugby with Hull KR.
“She will be a big talent in the future for the Valkyrie, if she keeps developing at her current rate.”
York Valkyrie begin their home campaign in the 2023 Betfred Women's Super League against St Helens at the LNER Community Stadium on Sunday 16th April (3pm).
Tickets are priced at £5 for Adults and Concessions and FREE for Under-16s and are available to purchase HERE.
